The following individuals received awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Paul Sorgen, PhD,&nbsp;<\/strong>biochemistry and molecular biology, received a grant of $3,726,530 from DHHS\/NIH\/NIGMS for Nebraska Research Network in Functional Genomics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ann Anderson-Berry, MD, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-newborn medicine, received a grant of $2,000,000 from NE DHHS-RHTP for Nebraska Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative: Rural Health Transformation Funds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jill Poole, MD,&nbsp;<\/strong>internal medicine-allergies\/immunology, received a grant of $931,110 from University of Nebraska Foundation for \u201cUNMC College of Medicine BREATHE-10: Lung-Targeted IL-10 Therapy for Airway Inflammation.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tammy Kielian, PhD,&nbsp;<\/strong>pathology, microbiology and immunology, received a grant of $603,211 from the DHHS\/NIH\/NIAID for a study of immune reprogramming with bioengineered scaffolds for the treatment of biofilm infection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kate Hyde, PhD,&nbsp;<\/strong>biochemistry and molecular biology, received a grant of $3,726,530 from DHHS\/NIH\/Office of the Director for \u201cSpectral Imaging Cell Sorter with Biosafety Cabinet.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ken Bayles, PhD, <\/strong>pathology, microbiology and immunology, received a grant of $86,920 from DHHS\/NIH\/NIAID to study the role of pyruvate acquisition in the survival of Staphylococcus aureus within an intracellular environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lou Lukas, MD,\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-geriatrics\/palliative medicine, received a grant of $528,979 from the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus for a study of psychedelics for older adults with chronic pain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Siddappa Byrareddy, PhD,&nbsp;<\/strong>pharmacology and experimental neuroscience, received a grant of $422,125 from DHHS\/NIH\/NIA for a study of Roles of Misfolded Protein Aggregates on Latent Reservoirs in SIV-infected, ART-treated animal models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rey Carabeo, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>pathology, microbiology and immunology, received a grant of $417,845 from DHHS\/NIH\/NIAID for a study of post-translational modulation of a host purine biosynthetic enzyme by Chlamydia trachomatis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Benita McVicker, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-GI, received a grant of $368,551 from the DHHS\/NIH\/NIAAA for a study of novel targeting mechanisms for alcohol-enhanced liver metastasis of colorectal cancer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Christopher Cummings, MD, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-genetics, received a grant of $194,292 from the DHHS\/NIH\/NIAAA for the study \u201c3D Genome Disruption in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: Toward Diagnostic and Therapeutic Targets.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heather Thomas, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-pulmonary, received a grant of $162,880 from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the Cystic Fibrosis Care, Teaching and Research Center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sarosh Rana, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>obstetrics and gynecology, received a grant of $148,198 from the Gates Foundation for the Luteolin Road Map. Dr. Rana also received funding for the Biomarkers Registry for Investigating Data and Guiding Evaluation in Preeclampsia (BRIDGE Study).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ashley Deschamp, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-pulmonary, received a grant of $98,243 from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the Therapeutics Development Center Award. Dr. Deschamp also received a grant of $16,368 from Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia for the PCD Foundation (PCDF) Registry: A longitudinal study of patients with primary ciliary dyskinesia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mithun Sattur, MBBS,\u00a0<\/strong>neurosurgery, received a grant of $60,176 from DHHS\/NIH\/NINDS for the \u201cMinimally Invasive Neuroendoscopic Ultra-Early Targeted ICH Evacuation Trial.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Haiying Shen, MD, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-neurology, received a grant of $50,000 from the Edna Ittner Trust-NU Foundation for the study \u201cDevelopmental Brain Abnormalities in Astrocytic Glycine Transporter Deficiency: A Translational Model of Pediatric Glycinergic Encephalopathy.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wei Shi, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-cardiovascular, received a grant of $50,000 from the Edna Ittner Trust-NU Foundation for the study \u201cTargeting Disease-Driving Gene Programs in Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jason Michaud, MD, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>surgery-urologic surgery, received a grant of $49,961 from the Edna Ittner Trust-NU Foundation for the study \u201cIntravesical Aminoglycosides for the Treatment of UTI.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cyrus DeSouza, MBBS,&nbsp;<\/strong>internal medicine-DEM, received a grant of $48,943 from the VA Center-Omaha as the IPA for IMPACT. Dr. DeSouza also received funding for a study to assess the efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamic effects of ANGPTL3 inhibition with either small-interfering rna alone or in combination with an ANGPTL3 antibody.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ruxana Sadikot, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-pulmonary, received a grant of $36,629 from the VA Center-Omaha as the IPA for the Better COPD-PH Study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kevin Dibbern, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-sports medicine, received a grant of $29,142 from Marquette University for a study on advancing functional assessment of pediatric flatfoot using weightbearing CT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Joshua Mammen, MD, PhD,<\/strong> surgery-surgical oncology, received a grant of $25,000 from Oregon Health and Science University for the SWOG Network Group Operations Center of the NCTN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zengguo Liu, MD, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-cardiovascular, received a grant of $20,242 from the University of Missouri-Columbia for a study of an implantable real-time troponin biosensor for early diagnosis of silent cardiac injuries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Andrea Green, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>pediatrics-infectious diseases, received a grant of $1,000 from the Research Institute at Nationwide Children\u2019s Hospital for dissemination of a facilitation strategy to deimplement unnecessary post-operative antibiotics at children&#8217;s hospitals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Industry-sponsored grants and contracts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following industry-sponsored grants and contracts were received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lindsay McAlarnen, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>obstetrics\/gynecology, received funding for a study of Sacituzumab Tirumotecan (sac-TMT, MK-2870) maintenance treatment with or without Bevacizumab vs. standard of care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kelsey Klute, MD,&nbsp;<\/strong>internal medicine-oncology\/hematology, received funding for a study of adjuvant Daraxonrasib vs. observation following curative intent therapy in patients with resected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) (RASolute30).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Harshraj Leuva, MBBS,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-oncology\/hematology, received funding for a study of Datopotamab Deruxtecan (Dato-DXd) plus Carboplatin or Cisplatin vs. Gemcitabine plus Carboplatin or Cisplatin in participants with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Benjamin Tepley, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-oncology\/hematology, received funding for a study of INCA036873 in participants with advanced solid tumors and hematological malignancies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jennifer Medlin, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-rhuematology, received funding for a trial of FT819 in participants with refractory moderate-to-severe systemic lupus erythematosus with lupus nephritis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sarah Holstein, MD, PhD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-oncology\/hematology, received funding for a study to evaluate the efficacy of Cemsidomide plus Dexamethasone in subjects with relapsed\/refractory multiple myeloma.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sara Bares, MD,\u00a0<\/strong>internal medicine-infectious diseases, received funding for \u201cPioneering Research to Optimize Pre-exposure Prophylaxis funding for a study of combined Amivantamab, Carboplatin and Paclitaxel in unresectable locally recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ronald Zolty, MD, PhD,&nbsp;<\/strong>internal medicine-cardiovascular, received funding for a study of COR-1389 on cardiopulmonary hemodynamics in patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with left-heart
