District 36 is comprised of western and southern Sarpy County, including the entirety of Gretna and Springfield, and parts of other municipalities. The district also includes a small sliver of Douglas County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tompkins visited with Jeff Kratz, UNMC\u2019s director of government relations, and met with UNMC Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD. He also toured the Innovation Design Unit, a living laboratory on the sixth floor of University Tower, where technology, design and patient feedback shape healthcare innovations and solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tompkins said he was excited to visit UNMC for two reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFirst, I have a distinct interest in healthcare and healthcare access in the state of Nebraska,\u201d he said. \u201cHaving grown up in rural South Dakota, I know how important that is to our communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSecond, I\u2019ve worked in the biotech field. I understand the economic engine this environment brings to our state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>This visit does not represent an endorsement of any candidate or political
