{"id":136963,"date":"2026-11-04T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=136963"},"modified":"2026-11-03T15:42:41","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T21:42:41","slug":"unmc-circle-of-distinction-honors-faculty-benefactors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/11\/04\/unmc-circle-of-distinction-honors-faculty-benefactors\/","title":{"rendered":"UNMC Circle of Distinction honors faculty, benefactors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UNMC honored the recipients of newly created endowed chairs, professorships and fellowships \u2014 among the highest academic awards the university can bestow on a faculty member \u2014 as well as the benefactors who support them during a recent celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the Circle of Distinction event held Oct. 6, a total of 60 faculty members and their corresponding benefactors were honored. In addition, 133 faculty and benefactors who previously joined the Circle of Distinction were recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, said endowed positions are critical to UNMC\u2019s ability to compete for and recruit the best faculty in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe see our faculty&#8217;s impact across UNMC,\u201d he said. \u201cOur educational programs continue to earn national recognition.
