Through Jan. 21, UNMC Today will feature photos and quotations from Martin Luther King Jr. and his political counterpart, Malcolm X. Today’s quotes reflect that both men believe that community regeneration is primarily internal, not external.<\/p>\n

The weekday feature will lead up to the Jan. 21 presentation of “The Meeting,” a fictional portrayal of an encounter between Dr. King and Malcolm X. Hosted by UNMC and NHS, the play will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lower Storz of NHS Clarkson Hospital (overflow attendance to Wittson Hall Amphitheater). The presentation is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Malcolm X<\/B>

\n Separation is when you have your own. They don’t call Chinatown in New York City or on the West Coast a segregated community, yet it’s all Chinese. But the Chinese control it. Chinese voluntarily live there, they control it. They run it. They have their own schools. They control their own politics, control their own industry. And they don’t feel like they’re being made inferior because they have to live to themselves.<\/FONT><\/P>

Martin Luther King Jr.<\/B>

\n While I strongly disagree with their separatist black supremacy philosophy, I have nothing but admiration for what our Muslim brothers have done to rehabilitate ex-convicts, dope addicts, and men and women who, through despair and self-hatred, have sunk to moral degeneracy.<\/FONT><\/P><\/p>\n
