The UNMC Faculty Senate Monday passed a resolution recognizing the contributions of William Berndt, Ph.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean for graduate studies. <\/p>\n

Dr. Berndt will retire May 31 after 20 years in several key administrative positions at UNMC. The senate presented Dr. Berndt with a rocking chair and plaque. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday, May 28, the campus community is invited to attend a retirement tea for Dr. Berndt from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium. UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., will make comments at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Faculty Senate resolution reads as follows:<\/p>\n

RESOLUTION NO. 3 2001-02<\/b><\/p>\n

WHEREAS,<\/b> Dr. William O. Berndt has served the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1982 to 2002, and<\/p>\n

WHEREAS,<\/b> Dr. Berndt has provided exemplary leadership in his positions as Professor of Pharmacology, Dean for Graduate Studies & Research, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Interim Chancellor, and Chancellor, and<\/p>\n

WHEREAS,<\/b> Dr. Berndt has met the challenges of these positions with enthusiasm, integrity and a tireless dedication to the welfare of UNMC and its employees, and <\/p>\n

WHEREAS,<\/b> Dr. Berndt has been dedicated to creating and maintaining a relationship between the UNMC Administration and Faculty Senate based on mutual trust and respect,<\/p>\n

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED,<\/b> on this the 6th of May 2002, the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center recognizes the significant contributions of Dr. William O. Berndt to UNMC and the University of Nebraska, wishes him well in his retirement, and acknowledges his rightful place in the history of success of this institution.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
