To date, the event has raised more than $22,000, said Amy Phillips, MDA program coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great way to raise funds,&#8221; said Schneider, who was representing UNMC. &#8220;I got a kick out of participating in the event.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During her 60 minutes in &#8220;jail,&#8221; Schneider was given a cell phone and phone book to call family and friends for donations. <\/p>\n<p>The donations help MDA continue research into the causes of and cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases. The funds also help MDA provide wheelchairs, clinic visits and summer camp for individuals in the Omaha area.
