\n<\/TABLE>Brock Wentz, a fourth-year medical student at UNMC, has been honored by the American Medical Association Foundation as one of this year’s recipients of the AMA Foundation Leadership Award.<\/p>\n

The award recognizes 25 medical students, 25 residents and fellows and 25 young physicians from around the country who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in non-clinical and community service activities. <\/p>\n

Wentz, a native of Kimball, Neb., received the award March 2 at the AMA’s inaugural Excellence in Medicine Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
\nThe AMA Foundation, in association with Pfizer medical Humanities Initiative, provided award winners with special training designed to improve their effectiveness as emerging leaders in medicine. Award winners also attended last month’s AMA’s National Advocacy Conference.<\/p>\n

Wentz is an active member of the AMA, serving his local chapter as immediate past president, the state chapter as Student Chair to Health Care Insurance & Medical Delivery Systems and immediate past chair to Association Affairs. He recently provided national service as the chair of the reference committee. In addition, he recently served as UNMC student senate president and was a non-voting, student member of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. <\/p>\n
