\nThe 2003 conference was attended by healthcare professionals from around the world including more than 100 international attendees representing Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

\n<\/TABLE>The sixth offering of the Pan Pacific Lymphoma Conference was July 21-26 at The Fairmont Orchid on The Kohala Coast, Hawaii. UNMC’s Drs. James Armitage and Julie Vose chaired the three half-day medical component session of the conference. This year’s conference included the incorporation of two half-day nursing sessions chaired by UNMC’s Kathy Byar and Bettina Frappier and a half-day session titled “Recent Advances in Hematopathology” chaired by Dr. Dennis Weisenburger. <\/p>\n

Among the highlights of the conference was a presentation titled “The Future of NCI Sponsored Lymphoma Research” by Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, director of the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. Internationally and nationally respected experts in lymphoma gave other presentations. There also were more than 50 abstract poster presentations and 15 industry exhibitors.<\/p>\n

This year’s conference was attended by more than 470 healthcare professionals in the following categories: 293 physicians, 28 nurses, 6 nurse practitioners, 17 pharmacists, five physician assistants, 11 allied health professionals, one social worker, 15 Ph.D.’s, eight M.D. Ph.D.’s, and 84 others. <\/p>\n
