{"id":20846,"date":"2003-10-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-10-08T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2003\/10\/08\/direct-and-fa-costs-training-session-oct-23\/"},"modified":"2003-10-08T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-10-08T05:00:00","slug":"direct-and-fa-costs-training-session-oct-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2003\/10\/08\/direct-and-fa-costs-training-session-oct-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Direct and F&#038;A costs training session Oct. 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>New and experienced grant administrators are invited to a new training session Thursday, Oct. 23, titled, &#8220;Direct and F&#038;A Costs: Observing the Road Signs while Navigating from Budget Creation to Expending Costs.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The training session is co-hosted by the UNMC Office of Budget, Analysis and Financial Compliance, Sponsored Programs Administration, and Sponsored Programs Accounting. <\/p>\n<p>The training session will outline policies, practices and exceptions related to sponsored programs administration for using and applying direct and F&#038;A costs. The session will focus on the: <\/p>\n<p><UL><LI>costs of research;<br \/>\n<LI>federal regulations governing the differences between direct and F&#038;A (facilities and administrative) costs;<br \/>\n<LI>categorization of proposals as &#8220;major grants;&#8221;<br \/>\n<LI>differences between allowable and unallowable costs;<br \/>\n<LI>responsible person for making costing decisions;<br \/>\n<LI>definitions for each budget category;<br \/>\n<LI>policies that pertain to each budget category; and<br \/>\n<LI>procedures taken for specific circumstances: budgeting outside of &#8220;standard&#8221; policy, expending in categories different than budgeted and defining expenses normally F&#038;A, but become direct costs.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>To accommodate participants, sponsors offer two training times in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater: a 9 to 11 a.m. session and a 1 to 3 p.m. session. To help prepare materials, complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.unmc.edu\/workshop\/reg102303.cfm\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">on-line registration form<\/a>  by Friday, Oct. 17.
