The College of Pharmacy recognized scholarship and leadership award recipients at its Annual Fall Honors Convocation on Thursday, Oct. 23.<\/p>\n

“The students who received these scholarships and leadership awards should be commended and congratulated for their hard work and outstanding achievements,” said College of Pharmacy Dean Clarence Ueda, Pharm.D., Ph.D. “Needless to say, the College is very grateful to the donors of the awards. The generosity and support of these individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations are sincerely appreciated.”<\/p>\n

In all, College of Pharmacy students received more than $400,000 in scholarships and awards for the 2003-2004 academic year, said Gary Cochran, Pharm.D., assistant professor in the department of pharmacy practice and Scholarship, Honors and Financial Aid Committee chair. <\/p>\n

“These funds are extremely important to our students. Students carry a significant academic burden that, in effect, limits their opportunity to work. They are also confronted with sizeable tuition increases,” Dr. Cochran said. “Without these resources, many of our students would face even larger obstacles to their academic careers.”<\/p>\n
