An all-campus celebration will follow the dedication until 3 p.m. Refreshments and tours of the building&#8217;s first floor will be available. Jazz music will be provided until 1 p.m. Short- and long-sleeved T-shirts (sizes S to XXL) will be available for purchase at $6 and $9, respectively. Commemorative calendar posters featuring scientific images from five research areas will be available to employees at the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Employees at UNMC&#8217;s off-campus sites can view Thursday&#8217;s dedication ceremony live. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.unmc.edu\/durham and archived for later viewing. It also will be broadcast live via satellite on NET 2, Channel 105 to the following sites:<br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>University of Nebraska at Kearney &#8212; Communication Building, Room 241;<br \/>\n<LI>Scottsbluff &#8212; Panhandle Station, Room 201; and<br \/>\n<LI>Lincoln &#8212; UNMC College of Dentistry, Room 4.<\/UL><br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>Answers to complex medical mysteries may lie inside UNMC&#8217;s newest building.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists in the Durham Research Center will search for clues to treat cancer, reverse Alzheimer&#8217;s disease, prevent congenital heart defects and cure blindness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is an endless potential for scientific advancement and discovery within the Durham Research Center,&#8221; said Thomas Rosenquist, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research at UNMC. &#8220;The state-of-the-art building will allow some of our top scientists to further advance their cutting-edge work in unraveling the medical mysteries relating to transplant biology and genetics and of birth defects, respiratory diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, eye disease and pancreatic and breast cancer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/durham\/building\/whatfloor\/intropg.htm\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more about the research taking place on the various levels of the building.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Answers to complex medical mysteries may lie inside UNMC&#8217;s newest building.
