{"id":21729,"date":"2004-06-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-23T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2004\/06\/23\/golf-tournament-benefits-student-run-clinics\/"},"modified":"2004-06-23T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-06-23T05:00:00","slug":"golf-tournament-benefits-student-run-clinics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2004\/06\/23\/golf-tournament-benefits-student-run-clinics\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf tournament benefits student-run clinics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Rain and wind washed away most of the golf at the Fifth Annual SHARING Clinic Golf Tournament on May 24, but the weather didn&#8217;t diminish the financial support directed toward the three student-run UNMC clinics.<\/p>\n<p>The four-person event, affectionately called &#8220;Sharing the Green,&#8221; raised more than $8,000 for the clinics, which include the weekly SHARING Clinic (Student Health Alliance Reaching Indigent Needy Groups); the weekly RESPECT Clinic (Responsible Early STD Prevention, Education &amp; Community Testing); and the monthly GOODLIFE Clinic (Greater Omaha Outreach for Diabetes Lifestyles Impacting Fitness and Education). <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even though the weather didn&#8217;t fully cooperate, the campus and corporate community didn&#8217;t let Mother Nature dampen the enthusiasm for the student-run clinics,&#8221; said Keith Swarts, director of Business Services and an organizer for the event. &#8220;I believe everyone still had a good time and left smiling knowing that they had contributed to a very worthwhile cause. My thanks goes out to all those people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>UNMC students helped to organize and sponsor the tournament. The four-person scramble took place at the Field Club of Omaha. The tournament&#8217;s sponsors included Metro Health Federal Credit Union and Pansing, Hogan, Ernst, &amp; Bachman Law Firm.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rain
