Parking Services has put together a Top 10 list of parking reminders. When followed, the reminders will help keep campus motorists safe and ticket-free, as well as ensure that patients and visitors have access to parking spaces designed for them. Motorists are urged to heed the following reminders, which are listed in no particular order: <\/p>\n

1) Handicapped parking stalls <\/b>are for campus patients and visitors — not campus employees. Failure to comply may result in a $100 ticket. Employees who have a medical authorization and\/or a state-issued handicapped permit must seek authorization from Parking Services for a special parking assignment. <\/p>\n

2) Employees who attend meetings and training<\/b> on campus during regular business hours (weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.) must park in their primary lot – not in patient\/visitor areas or shift areas. Failure to comply may result in a monetary fine.<\/p>\n

3) Employees who drive a rental or temporary vehicle<\/b> to campus must park in their primary lot and call Parking Services for authorization since the vehicle will lack a valid parking sticker. <\/p>\n

4) Motorists in Lot 50 are reminded of the “No Left-Hand Turn”<\/b> signs at the east entrance of the garage. Failure to comply could result in a $25 fine.<\/p>\n

5) Motorists should drive slowly<\/b> through the parking structures. The speed limit in all campus-parking structures is 5 miles per hour. <\/p>\n

6) Motorists should use common sense<\/b> while driving through campus parking structures and be aware of any vehicles that may be entering and\/or leaving the garage. For safety sake, round corners slowly and watch for and yield to pedestrians.<\/p>\n

7) As a courtesy, large vehicles<\/b> with extended cabs and\/or bike racks that protrude into driving lanes may want to consider parking on the upper level of their primary parking garage to ensure proper clearance for fellow motorists.<\/p>\n

8) There are 98 stalls on the south side of Lot 50 (Level A) that are owned by OPPD.<\/b> As a result, campus employees are not allowed to park in those stalls – even if there are stalls available. (A while back, OPPD granted Parking Services permission to temporarily relocate motorists in their stalls because of construction near Lot 3. That arrangement, however, has ended). Campus employees who park in the OPPD-owned section of the garage are subject to a $25 fine.<\/p>\n

9) Motorists should have their green parking stickers <\/b>on their vehicles. All old permits (yellow and prior) should be removed from vehicles. Only the current, green permits are required. <\/p>\n

10) Motorists who park in designated structures may be ticketed if they do not properly display their green hanging permit,<\/b> in addition to their adhesive permit.<\/p>\n
