The University of Nebraska Central Administration has announced nominating procedures and deadlines for five university awards – the Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award, the Outstanding Teaching and Instructional Creativity Award, the University-wide Departmental Teaching Award, the Peter Kiewit Student Entrepreneurial Award and the Walter Scott Entrepreneurial Business Award. <\/p>\n

The Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award (ORCA) <\/b>honors members of the University of Nebraska faculty who have conducted outstanding research or creative activity of national or international significance. Peer reviewer letters should be sent directly to the Office of the Provost by Nov. 8. Nominations are due to the Office of the Provost by Nov. 10. Winners are announced in January 2005.<\/p>\n

The Outstanding Teaching and Instructional Creativity Award (OTICA) <\/b>honors members of the University of Nebraska faculty who have developed meritorious and sustained records of excellence in teaching and creativity related to teaching. Nominations are due to the Chancellor’s Office at each campus on Oct. 25. Winners are announced in January 2005.<\/p>\n

The University-wide Departmental Teaching Award (UDTA) <\/b>honors a department or unit of the University of Nebraska, which has outstanding esprit de corps in its dedication to the education of students at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional levels. Nominations are due to the Chancellor’s Office at each campus on Oct. 25. Winners are announced in January 2005.<\/p>\n

The Peter Kiewit Student Entrepreneurial Award <\/b>honors University of Nebraska students who have directed their energies, ideas and talents toward community and business improvements with the creative and innovative use of information technology. A cash prize of $2,500 accompanies the award. Nominations must be submitted by Oct. 25. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 24.<\/p>\n

The Walter Scott Entrepreneurial Business Award <\/b>honors an existing business with a presence in Nebraska that has created partnerships and links with the University of Nebraska in the area of technology. The award winner receives $10,000 to be used for the promotion and\/or creation of multiple student work experiences in the fields of information science, technology and engineering.
