{"id":21964,"date":"2004-09-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-09-10T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2004\/09\/10\/nursing-faculty-share-research-findings\/"},"modified":"2004-09-10T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-09-10T05:00:00","slug":"nursing-faculty-share-research-findings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2004\/09\/10\/nursing-faculty-share-research-findings\/","title":{"rendered":"Nursing faculty share research findings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>UNMC College of Nursing faculty shared their research findings recently at an international nursing conference in Dublin, Ireland, at the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Research Conference meeting, titled, &#8220;Building Community Through Research.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The conference offered forums for participants to connect scholarship and evidence-based practice, promote communication among participants regarding health issues of global significance, and provided a multinational, interdisciplinary platform from which to influence the change of nursing practice.<\/p>\n<p>Presenters from UNMC, and their topics of presentation were:  <\/p>\n<p><UL><br \/>\n<LI>West Nebraska Division, Scottsbluff: Susan Wilhelm, Ph.D., T. Kim Rodehorst, Ph.D., &#8220;Multisite Research: Building Community Among Diverse Members of a Research Team,&#8221; oral presentation (other contributing authors: MaryBeth Stepans, Ph.D., and Paula Vasek.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p><b>Omaha:<\/b><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>Ann Berger, Ph.D., Lynne Farr, Ph.D., &#8220;Daytime Activity\/Nap Patterns and Their Relationship to Fatigue During Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer.&#8221;<br \/>\n<LI>Peggy Wilson, Ph.D., Judith Heermann, Ph.D., &#8220;Describing Independent Nursing Actions That Promote Partnering With Lay Caregivers in Cooperative Care.&#8221;<br \/>\n<LI>Mary Megel, Ph.D., Peggy Wilson, Ph.D., &#8220;Revalidation of the Barton Hospital Picture Test.&#8221;<br \/>\n<LI>Peggy Pelish, Ph.D., &#8220;Self-Esteem Enhancement in Rural School-Age Children.&#8221;<br \/>\n<LI>Susan Noble Walker, Ed.D, and Carol Pullen, Ed.D., &#8220;Predictors of Healthy Eating Among Midlife and Older Rural Women&#8221; and &#8220;Cognitive\/Perceptual Factors Influencing Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Among Normal Weight, Overweight, and Obese Rural Women&#8221; (Other contributing authors for both presentations:
