Time is running out to buy tickets for the 12th annual “Night of a Thousand Stars,” which will take place Saturday, Dec. 4, at various sites across Nebraska. The event benefits the Nebraka AIDS Project. <\/p>\n

A pre-party reception and cocktail supper will begin at 7 p.m. at the Omaha Woman’s Club, 518 S. 38th St. Those attending the pre-party event will be admitted to the main event, which will begin at 9 p.m. at the Qwest Center Omaha. <\/p>\n

The featured entertainer at the Qwest Center is K.C. and the Sunshine Band, a legendary disco group of the ’70s. The group’s hits include “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” and “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty.” The Personics, an Omaha disco jive group, is the event’s opening act. In addition, premier desserts from the city’s finest restaurants will be available at the Qwest Center event.<\/p>\n

A donation of $50 per ticket is requested for UNMC’s pre-party reception, which will be limited to 250 tickets sold on a first-come, first-served basis. For tickets, contact Deanna Hansen at 559-5392 or dmhansen@unmc.edu<\/a> by noon on Friday, Dec. 3. No tickets will be sold at the door of this year’s event. <\/p>\n

Tax deductible donations also may be made in honor or memory of a loved one. Anyone interested in making a donation can send a check — payable to the Nebraska AIDS Project — to Hansen via campus mail (ZIP 5400). <\/p>\n

Hosts of the UNMC-sponsored event are UNMC faculty members Susan Swindells, M.D., and Joseph Hoagbin, M.D., Internal Medicine Administrative Director Mike McGlade and Business Services Director Keith Swarts.<\/p>\n

Nebraska AIDS Project, the only community-based AIDS service organization in Nebraska, was organized in 1984. Its mission is to work to eliminate the spread of HIV through education and prevention programs targeted to those at risk, and to provide professional services and compassionate support to people living with HIV and AIDS, their families and loved ones.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
