The program recognizes outstanding volunteer faculty members for their contributions to the campus, classroom and clinical settings. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/VOLchacko2004.jpg\" border=\"2\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><b>David Chacko, M.D., Ph.D.,<\/b> an ophthalmologist with Grene Vision Group in Wichita, Kansas, serves as a volunteer faculty member in UNMC&#8217;s Department of Ophthalmology, where he is president of the Alumni Association. He has served as a volunteer since 2001, after being on staff for nearly 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Chacko is a charismatic leader with diverse interests,&#8221; his nominator said. &#8220;He is able to do so very much for the benefit of so very many. He establishes outstanding rapport with his devoted patients. He is a superb mentor.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/VOLbassett2004.jpg\" border=\"2\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><b>Craig Bassett, M.D., <\/b>has been the medical student clerkship director for Nebraska Methodist Hospital since 1977, and is responsible for coordinating the obstetric and gynecological educational clinical experiences for half of all medical students who receive their training at UNMC. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Bassett also serves as a clinical preceptor for many of our medical students,&#8221; his nominator said. &#8220;He holds weekly educational sessions with the medical students assigned to Methodist Hospital. His educational experiences are highly rated by the students, deal with common issues related to the health care of women and attest to his commitment to the educational programs of the university.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/VOLgrant2004.jpg\" border=\"2\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><b>Kathleen Grant, M.D.,<\/b> an adjunct assistant professor in psychiatry, serves as a preceptor for students on psychiatry clerkship who rotate with her for one week on the substance abuse treatment center at the Omaha Veteran&#8217;s Affairs Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Grant is a superb teacher and clinician who provides a unique educational experience for UNMC medical students,&#8221; her nominator said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/VOLmarlowe2004.jpg\" border=\"2\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><b>Charles Marlowe, M.D., <\/b>an obstetrician and gynecologist at Physicians Clinic in Omaha, has served as the educational coordinator for the UNMC Department of Ob\/Gyn&#8217;s residency education program at Nebraska Methodist Hospital since its inception. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Marlowe has been a strong advocate for resident education, has been an excellent role model for residents and medical students, and has worked with three different Residency Program Directors to meet the educational needs and regulatory requirements for residency education,&#8221; his nominator said. &#8220;He is an excellent clinical teacher.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Chauncey Wilkins, M.D.,<\/b> a family physician in Blair, has served as a volunteer faculty member since 1994. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is a family physician with a long commitment to educating our family practice students and also residency education,&#8221; his nominator said.<\/p>\n<p><b>Kimberly Allen, D.O., <\/b>a pediatrician at CCH Pediatric Clinic in Columbus, Neb., has served as a volunteer faculty member since 1995. She welcomes third-year medical students five to six times a year into her clinical practice for a complete onsite general clerkship experience, which is 61\/2 weeks long. She also welcomes fourth-year students who are seeking more experience in pediatrics for subinternships.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr. Allen built a large (solo) practice quickly, but even as busy as she was, she always took students to teach.
