Zucker and Windle also presented during the symposium.<br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/cardioanderson05.jpg\" border=\"2\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<font face=\"arial\" font size=\"-1\"><br \/>\nDaniel Anderson, M.D., Ph.D., won the basic science category of the symposium.<br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>A UNMC faculty member and a cardiology fellow took top honors in the poster contests at the Ninth Annual Cardiovascular Research Symposium at UNMC on Friday, Feb. 4.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Shurmur, M.D., associate professor of cardiology, claimed the top prize in the clinical science division with his poster, titled &#8220;Intravenous Fenoldopam is Not Superior to Oral N-Acetylcysteine for Preventing Contrast-Induced Decline in Renal Function During Cardiac Catherization: The Comparison of N-Acetylcysteine to Fenoldopam for the Prevention of Contrast-Induced Nephropathy (Cafcin) Study.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Daniel Anderson, M.D., Ph.D., won the basic science category with his poster, titled &#8220;Alterations in Serum Complement C3 Levels Induced by Intravenous Pesda Infusions.&#8221;<br \/>\nIn all, there were six clinical abstracts and 21 basic science abstracts submitted.<\/p>\n<p>The poster presentations concluded a day of symposium presentations. Ray Hershberger, M.D., director of Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology and director of the Cardiac Transplantation and Endstage Heart Disease Programs at the Oregon Health &#038; Science University, gave the keynote presentation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a neat event,&#8221; Dr. Hershberger said as he viewed the posters at the conclusion of the day. &#8220;I&#8217;m very
