1. What is bar code census?
\n2. How will it work?
\n3. What if I lose one of my cage cards?<\/p>\n

Answers:<\/b><\/p>\n

1. Each cage card will be imprinted with a barcode that is linked to database information including IACUC protocol number, PI, per diem rate and species.<\/p>\n

2. A barcode card must be clearly visible on the front of each cage. Cards will be read with an electronic scanner. New cards, for cage breakdown, can be ordered and printed out in each facility. When cages are no longer in use (retired) the card MUST be deposited in the marked container in each facility so they can be “scanned out.”<\/p>\n

3. If you do not deposit retired cards in the “scan out box” OR if the card is lost you need to contact the Comparative Medicine business office at 559-4034 to ensure that the card is removed from the system. Otherwise per diem charges will continue to accrue.<\/p>\n
