The Blackboard course management system has been a staple for online access to educational, training and organizational information for five years. More than 900 courses are currently available on the system, with almost 600 of them active at any one time. <\/p>\n

Blackboard has been established as the course management system across all four of the University of Nebraska campuses. More than 500 UNMC faculty are instructors in the courses, and UNMC is the only campus in the NU system at which every student must access Blackboard during their education. Why? One reason is because UNMC has moved many of its compliance courses to the Web, and most use Blackboard.

\n<\/TR>
\n<\/TABLE>Blackboard will be unavailable June 1-2 so the new version of the software can be installed. The upgrade is required by Blackboard to maintain the manufacturer’s support of the product.<\/p>\n

While users will not be able to access materials on Blackboard on Thursday, June 1, access should be reestablished late on Friday, June 2. Any questions about the upgrade should be addressed to Dan Moser, associate director of Learning Environment and Internet Services (LEIS), at 559-5684.<\/p>\n

While the new version does not have significant changes in the major functions of the system, LEIS will be presenting a Blackboard Users Group on June 22 at 11:30 a.m. in the Durham Research Center, Room 1005, to discuss the new features available with Blackboard version 7.1. Beverages and dessert will be served; brown bags are welcome. Limited seating available, early registration is recommended.
