David Li, Ph.D , associate professor, biochemistry\/molecular biology, is among the many new faculty members at UNMC. <\/p>\n

\"pictureName:<\/b> David W. Li, Ph.D. <\/p>\n

Title: <\/b>Associate professor, department of biochemistry and molecular biology; courtesy associate professor, ophthalmology and visual science. <\/p>\n

Duties: <\/b>Dr. Li will have research and teaching responsibilities. His main research interests are apoptosis and signal transduction pathways in ocular development and diseases, and also in cancer development, chemoprevention and therapy, especially the roles of protein serine\/threonine phosphatases and MAP kinases. Dr. Li also is interested in telomerase functions and aging, as well as functions of alpha-crystallins in the eye and heart. He previously taught molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and developmental biology, and will teach these subjects in UNMC graduate and medical programs.<\/p>\n

Specialty:<\/b> Molecular and cellular biology of the eye, especially the ocular lens; and signal transductions of carcinogenesis, especially the roles of protein serine\/threonine phosphatases. <\/p>\n
