{"id":27028,"date":"2006-09-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-09-12T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2006\/09\/12\/hospitals-cardiac-care-earns-mark-of-distinction\/"},"modified":"2006-09-12T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2006-09-12T05:00:00","slug":"hospitals-cardiac-care-earns-mark-of-distinction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2006\/09\/12\/hospitals-cardiac-care-earns-mark-of-distinction\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital&#8217;s cardiac care earns Mark of Distinction"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Nebraska Medical Center has become one of the first medical centers in the state to be recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska as a &#8220;Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Developed by one of the nation&#8217;s leading insurers, the title goes only to those programs meeting stringent requirements for overall quality and patient outcome. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re very pleased to earn this recognition from such a reputable organization,&#8221; said Jorge Parodi, executive director of cardiovascular and pulmonary services at The Nebraska Medical Center. &#8220;Not only does it acknowledge the extraordinary care provided to heart patients every day, but also the incredible talent and experience displayed by every member of the cardiac team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In qualifying for &#8220;Blue Distinction&#8221; recognition, The Nebraska Medical Center met several areas of criteria including:<br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>Full range of cardiac services including inpatient cardiac care, cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization and cardiac rehabilitation<br \/>\n<LI>Board-certified sub-specialists in cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology<br \/>\n<LI>A high annual volume of cardiac procedures<br \/>\n<LI>A quality management program to track patient care and outcomes<br \/>\n<LI>Full accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)<br \/>\n<LI>A network participation agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>Blue Cross and Blue Shield provides healthcare insurance coverage for nearly one-third of all Americans.  It says &#8220;Blue Distinction Centers&#8221; demonstrate better outcomes and consistency of care, providing greater value for its customers.<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\"
