\n<\/TABLE>Jeffrey Baldwin, Pharm.D., associate professor of pharmacy practice in the College of Pharmacy, received the college’s 2006 Distinguished Teacher Award on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Dr. Baldwin received the award for his dedication to student learning and commitment to teaching, said COP Dean Clarence Ueda, Pharm. D., Ph.D.<\/p>\n

“There is no faculty member in our college who is more concerned about being effective in the classroom than Dr. Baldwin,” Dr. Ueda said. “We talk a lot about research on campus and sometimes that overshadows the teaching aspects of what we do. He works hard at being a good teacher and I am glad to see him recognized for that.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Baldwin was selected for the award by the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, which is composed of the presidents of each class and student organization and the college’s elected UNMC Student Senate representative.<\/p>\n

In recommending Dr. Baldwin for the award, the council lauded him for his knowledge base and teaching skills along with his ability to inspire students and make a lasting impact on their careers.<\/p>\n

Dr. Baldwin was called a living example of a “lifelong learner,” an attribute the council said is evident in the up-to-date information he presents in his teaching.<\/p>\n

Receiving the award was gratifying, said Dr. Baldwin, who has been at UNMC since 1973.<\/p>\n

“It’s a great honor and a shock,” he said. “It is a pleasure to participate in the development of our student pharmacists.”<\/p>\n
