{"id":29903,"date":"2007-02-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-20T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2007\/02\/20\/trans-mississippi-expo-focus-of-durham-lecture\/"},"modified":"2007-02-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-20T06:00:00","slug":"trans-mississippi-expo-focus-of-durham-lecture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2007\/02\/20\/trans-mississippi-expo-focus-of-durham-lecture\/","title":{"rendered":"Trans-Mississippi Expo focus of Durham lecture"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Trans-Mississippi Exposition of 1898, which showcased the development of the western region, will be the focus of the Feb. 27 &#8220;Afternoon with the Durham&#8221; Brown Bag Lecture. <\/p>\n<p>The lecture will be held at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. <\/p>\n<p>The Trans-Mississippi Exposition was a five-month celebration that featured more than 4,000 exhibits and attracted more than 2.6 million people to Omaha.  <\/p>\n<p>As part of the Durham Western Heritage Museum&#8217;s &#8220;Scholars in Residence Program,&#8221; presenter David Wells invites you to revisit this remarkable event in our community&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>The museum is pleased to offer this lecture on campus to UNMC, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center employees through the &#8220;Afternoon with the Durham&#8221; series. <\/p>\n<p>An evening lecture and reception also will be held on Feb. 27 at the Durham Western Heritage Museum at 6:30 p.m.  <\/p>\n<p>To RSVP for the noon lecture on campus, please contact Jill Carson at <a href=\"mailto:jlcarson@unmc.edu\">jlcarson@unmc.edu<\/a>.
