Eighteen posters and two oral presentations were presented during the colloquium, which was co-sponsored by the college, Gamma Pi Chapter-At-Large and Sigma Theta Tau International.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the results of the colloquium:<\/p>\n<p>Brandy Nygren and Lyndann Sokolowski received the Dean&#8217;s Award for Excellence in an Oral Presentation for their research titled, &#8220;Transition to Motherhood in Low-Income, Pregnant 23-29 Year Olds in Nebraska.&#8221; Their advisers were Margaret Kaiser, Ph.D., Katherine Kaiser, Ph.D., and Teresa Barry.<\/p>\n<p>Jamie Hansen, Donalee Hartman and Sonia Sublett received the Dean&#8217;s Award for Excellence in a Master&#8217;s Student Poster Presentation. Their research was titled, &#8220;Pelvic Floor Stimulation for Women Experiencing Urinary Incontinence Outcome Measures and Quality of Life.&#8221; Janice Twiss, Ph.D., was their adviser.<\/p>\n<p>There was a tie for the Dean&#8217;s Award for Excellence in a Doctoral Student Poster Presentation. The award was shared by Lisa Bauer for her presentation, &#8220;Correlates of Cognitive Functions in Heart Failure Patients,&#8221; and Kimberly Wielgus for her presentation, &#8220;Methodology Issues When Using Actigraphy to Measure Circadian Rhythms in Adults with Cancer.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Bauer&#8217;s faculty adviser was Bunny Pozehl, Ph.D., while Ann Berger, Ph.D., served as Wielgus&#8217; adviser. <\/p>\n<p>Tamala Hanson and Julie Werner received the Muriel Munchrath Gamma Pi Chapter-at-Large, Sigma Theta Tau Award for Excellence in a Nursing Research Presentation for their poster, &#8220;Pressure Ulcer Prevention in Critical Care Patients.&#8221; Their adviser was Janet Cuddigan, Ph.D.<\/p>\n<p>The Alumni Association Rena E. Boyle Award for Excellence in Clinical Nursing Research went to Jessica Morrell for her poster, &#8220;Difference in Frequency and Distress of Perimenopausal Symptoms in Users and Nonusers of Hormone Therapy.&#8221; Her adviser was Dr. Twiss.<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" style=\"display: none;\" title=\" Z qI Rv cxo\"> Z qI Rv cxo<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNMC College of Nursing students participated in a graduate student research colloquium in early April.
