\n<\/TABLE>Elmer Freeman, Ph.D., the executive director of the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service, will be giving a free presentation in Omaha on Wednesday, May 9. <\/p>\n

His talk is titled “University\/Community Engagement to Reduce Racial Ethnic Health Disparities” and will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Room 1004 of the Durham Research Center on the UNMC campus.<\/p>\n

Dr. Freeman’s visit is sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation through the Engaged Institutions Initiative for the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC)\/University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Master of Public Health (MPH) Program. He also will conduct a policy discussion and meet with faculty and students May 9.<\/p>\n

“We are excited to have Dr. Freeman speak to the faculty staff and students at the University of Nebraska,” said Alice Schumaker, director of the UNMC\/UNO MPH Program. “His public presentation is timely and important for our metropolitan community.”<\/p>\n

Prior to serving as executive director for the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service, Dr. Freeman served as executive director of the Whittier Street Health Center, assistant director of the Mattapan Community Health Center and as a planner\/analyst at the Health Planning Council for Greater Boston. He also is an adjunct professor at Northeastern University Bouve College of Health Sciences School of Nursing. <\/p>\n
