\n<\/TABLE>This summer may be one of the busiest ever in terms of campus construction. <\/p>\n

That’s the word from UNMC Director for Facilities Planning and Construction Ron Schaefer.<\/p>\n

With several projects in progress — including work on the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education that will cause temporary closings on part of 42nd Street — Schaefer said UNMC employees will need to be flexible in their travels around campus.<\/p>\n

“The summer is a busy time of year for construction on this campus and this year that is especially true,” Schaefer said. “With all the work being done here, some automobile and pedestrian traffic disruption is inevitable. Our contractors are doing everything they can to make sure such inconveniences are as short as possible.”<\/p>\n

The section of 42nd Street between Dewey and Emile streets will close for brief periods during the first three Saturdays in June (June 2, 9 and 16) as the pedestrian bridge connecting the Sorrell Center and Wittson Hall is delivered and installed. <\/p>\n

The section of road also may be obstructed during some weekends and evenings in September as construction on the bridge continues, Schaefer said.<\/p>\n
