The public is invited to participate in the Tee-Up for Disabilities Golf Tournament Monday, Sept. 17, at Field Club of Omaha, 3615 Woolworth Ave.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the tournament, sponsored by the C. Louis Meyer Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc., will go toward the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute recreational therapy program for adults with developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n

The year-round programs provide respite care for families and caregivers of adults with developmental disabilities, such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, spina bifida and genetic disorders. Activities include arts and crafts, music, sports activities, swimming, dining club, day and overnight trips, and recreational and leisure events in the community. <\/p>\n

Developmental disabilities are a diverse group of chronic conditions due to mental and\/or physical impairments. <\/p>\n

The annual Tee-Up for Disabilities Golf Tournament is the main source of financial support for MMI’s programs. A variety of tournament sponsorships are available to anyone interested in supporting the program.<\/p>\n

The not-for-profit C. Louis Meyer Foundation is the major source of funding for adult recreational therapy, adult respite care and habilitation programs at MMI. Funding of recreational programs are dependent entirely on private donations.<\/p>\n

Registration for the golf tournament will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The event is a four-person scramble, 18-hole tournament. The entry fee for the tournament is $125 per player, or $500 a foursome, which includes hole prizes, door prizes, raffle, refreshment cart and dinner.<\/p>\n
