The seminar will be the first in a monthly series devoted to discussing clinical and translational research.<br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>A new seminar series focused on clinical and translational research kicks off Monday at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. <\/p>\n<p>The one-hour seminars &#8212; which will be held at noon on the fourth Monday of each month &#8212; are aimed at bringing clinical and basic science investigators from across the university together to identify new ways to collaborate and answer important clinical questions. <\/p>\n<p>The seminars will be videotaped and available for investigators who cannot attend. The seminars also will be televised at the following sites:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Dixon Lecture Hall (Room 16F) at the College of Dentistry in Lincoln;<br \/>\n<LI>College of Nursing in Lincoln, Room 307;<br \/>\n<LI> College of Nursing in Scottsbluff, Panhandle Station Room 203;<br \/>\n<LI> College of Nursing in Kearney, CMCT 216; and<br \/>\n<LI>College of Nursing in Omaha, Room 4078. <\/UL><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Increasing UNMC&#8217;s clinical and translational research capabilities is a main emphasis in the Chancellor&#8217;s Strategic Plan and is essential in our push to become a world-class academic health science center,&#8221; said Jennifer Larsen, M.D., associate dean for clinical research in the College of Medicine. &#8220;I encourage people from all disciplines to attend these seminars and learn how we can become stronger in this vital aspect of biomedical research.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alexander &#8220;Sasha&#8221; Kabanov, Ph.D., Parke-Davis Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and director of the Center for Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine, will be the series&#8217; first presenter with a lecture titled &#8220;&#8221;Nanomedicine: From Bench to Bedside.&#8221;
