{"id":31003,"date":"2007-10-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-10-08T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2007\/10\/08\/sbir-coordinator-to-give-oct-11-workshop-on-nih-opportunities\/"},"modified":"2007-10-08T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-10-08T05:00:00","slug":"sbir-coordinator-to-give-oct-11-workshop-on-nih-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2007\/10\/08\/sbir-coordinator-to-give-oct-11-workshop-on-nih-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"SBIR coordinator to give Oct. 11 workshop on NIH opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>UNMC and UNeMed are among the sponsors of an Oct. 11 workshop titled &#8220;From Lab to Life: Opportunities offered by the National Institutes for Health Small Business Innovation Research Program.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The free workshop will be offered in Omaha from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the UNMC College of Nursing, Room 1011\/1012 and in Lincoln from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Union. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These funds are an important resource for faculty who are collaborating with industry, or, who are entrepreneurial and aspire to start a company,&#8221; said James Linder, M.D., president and CEO of UNeMed Corporation, the technology commercialization arm for UNMC. &#8220;The staff at UNeMed is available to help faculty through the application process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Participants will discover what research NIH is seeking, what money is available and how to get proposals funded; how the pilot manufacturing assistance program can help small businesses commercialize innovations; how to keep informed about funding and partnership opportunities; and more about the services NIH programs offer to help move an idea into the marketplace. <\/p>\n<p>The speaker is JoAnne Goodnight, who is the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program Coordinator of the NIH and the Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Service.
