The following are answers to some questions about the Saddle Creek Road relocation feasibility study.<\/p>\n

What is the purpose of the feasibility study?<\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

To identify ways to improve traffic flow, enhance flood control and serve as a catalyst for economic development on this major midtown arterial.<\/p>\n

What area does the study encompass?<\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

The study area is generally bounded by Cuming Street on the north, Center Street on the south, 42nd Street on the east and 52nd Street on the west. <\/p>\n

How will the end result serve Omahans better?<\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

This project has the potential to be one of the most significant projects in Omaha’s history. Improving this key arterial, coupled with other improvements such as Midtown Crossing, can make midtown Omaha a true destination location.<\/p>\n

How will the project help with flood control?<\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

The project will create a swale, a shallow depression along the roadway, that will collect storm water runoff. Swales also are visual appealing because they are typically well landscaped. <\/p>\n

How much is the project going to cost? <\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

Depending on which alignment is chosen, it could cost up to $40 million for construction and right-of way costs. <\/p>\n

What is the next step in the process? <\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

The next step is creating the Environmental Impact Statement. The EIS evaluates potential environmental impacts of each alignment. There will be opportunities for the public to provide feedback during this process, which is expected to take 6 to 9 months.<\/p>\n
