In particular, the lab studies two different diseases:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Hypertension; and<br \/>\n<LI>Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known at Lou Gehrig&#8217;s Disease. <\/UL> <\/p>\n<p><B>Description of duties:<\/B> Dr. Zimmerman&#8217;s primary responsibility is to provide mentorship and guidance to graduate students and postdoctoral research fellows, while developing a strong, extramurally funded research program. As a member of the Redox Biology Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dr. Zimmerman hopes to establish strong collaborations with other scientists interested in free radical biology and medicine. In addition, Dr. Zimmerman will lecture in graduate courses offered by the UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology.<\/p>\n<p><I>All UNMC departments are encouraged to send information on new faculty members to UNMC Today at <a href=\"mailto:today@unmc.edu\">today@unmc.edu<\/a>.
