Pending regents&#8217; approval, the geriatric center will bear the Home Instead name.<br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>Simply put &#8212; a new geriatric center on the UNMC campus will be built because of the generosity of Omaha natives Lori and Paul Hogan.<\/p>\n<p>That was the word Wednesday from UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., during a news conference to announce a major donation the couple made to help fund the new geriatric center.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are deeply indebted to Lori and Paul Hogan for their gift,&#8221; Dr. Maurer said. <\/p>\n<p>The Hogans are co-founders of Home Instead Senior Care, the largest provider of non-medical home care to seniors in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Pending regents&#8217; approval, the new geriatric center will be called the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging. <\/p>\n<p>The two-level center will occupy 25,300 square feet and will cost nearly $10.2 million. It will be built at the intersection of Leavenworth Street and 38th Avenue at the present site occupied by the Annex 4, 5 and 6 buildings on the east end of the UNMC campus. <\/p>\n<p>Construction is slated to begin in September with completion in August 2009. The building will be funded entirely with private donations including the Hogans&#8217; gift.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;We have high hopes and aspirations for the Center for Successful Aging,&#8221; Lori Hogan said. &#8220;We are very grateful for this unique opportunity and partnership with UNMC.&#8221;
