{"id":31658,"date":"2008-02-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-02-15T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2008\/02\/15\/academic-priorities-updated\/"},"modified":"2008-02-15T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-02-15T06:00:00","slug":"academic-priorities-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2008\/02\/15\/academic-priorities-updated\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic priorities updated"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>UNMC&#8217;s Priortization of Academic Programs has been updated and can now by viewed by <a href=\"https:\/\/info.unmc.edu\/chancellor\/program_prioritization.htm\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">clicking here<\/a> or in the Quick Links drop down menu on the UNMC Intranet homepage (info.unmc.edu).<\/p>\n<p>The prioritization emphasizes UNMC&#8217;s existing and emerging areas of excellence rather than particular colleges, schools, institutes or other traditional academic organizations.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is meant to underscore UNMC&#8217;s push for more interdisciplinary approach to education,&#8221; said John Adams, Ph.D., assistant vice chancellor for business and finance. <\/p>\n<p>This approach toward prioritization highlights the direction in which UNMC is moving as an academic health sciences center (AHC) in education, research and patient care, said David Crouse, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Much of what we excel at here crosses disciplinary and college lines,&#8221; Dr. Crouse said.  &#8220;I think this prioritization accurately reflects this collaborative approach.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The Prioritization of Academic Programs was initially started in 2001 when then University of Nebraska President L.
