Hauser starts as UNMC’s full-time safety manager on April 21. <\/p>\n

In his new role, Hauser will ensure safety regulations are implemented and maintained in all UNMC facilities, said Keith Swarts, UNMC’s director of business services. <\/p>\n

“John Hauser is a perfect fit for this position,” Swarts said. “He’s been closely affiliated with UNMC for more than two decades and is very knowledgeable about the safety issues we face here.”<\/p>\n

Hauser was hired 25 years ago as a safety officer at what was then University Hospital. When UNMC and Clarkson merged in 1997 to form what is now The Nebraska Medical Center, he became a hospital employee because the need for safety regulation was greater on the clinical side.<\/p>\n

But because of rapidly expanding research facilities and capabilities, Swarts said, it has become necessary for UNMC to increase safety efforts and regulation.<\/p>\n

Placing Hauser in such a role is a natural fit, Swarts said. <\/p>\n

Even though he worked for the hospital, Hauser also played a key role in UNMC’s maintenance of safety standards. <\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>In his new role, his full-time focus will be on UNMC safety issues but, Swarts said, Hauser will be available to offer his expertise to hospital-related safety issues, too. <\/p>\n

“This period of rapid growth and development makes it an exciting time to be at UNMC,” Hauser said, noting that he’s excited to help set up safety plans and regulations that will make this growth happen more smoothly. <\/p>\n

“There’s a lot of work to do make sure we provide our employees and students a safe place to work and study,” Hauser said. “I look forward to devoting my full efforts to UNMC.” <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
