\n<\/TABLE>Douglas Keefe, Ph.D., of the Boys Town National Research Hospital will discuss improved methods for diagnosing hearing loss and middle ear problems during the monthly clinical and translational research (CTR) seminar today at noon in the Durham Research Center, Room 1005.<\/p>\n

Dr. Keefe will discuss testing methods he and his colleagues have devised that could improve diagnosis of hearing loss and a condition known as middle ear effusion — which is the second-leading cause of newborn doctor visits. <\/p>\n

“Hospital tests have shown our methods more accurately diagnose hearing loss and middle ear effusion than current methods,” Dr. Keefe said. <\/p>\n

Dr. Keefe’s seminar is part of an ongoing series of CTR seminars that are typically held on the third Monday of each month. <\/p>\n

The series is aimed at bringing clinical and basic science investigators from across the university together to identify new ways to collaborate and answer important clinical questions.<\/p>\n
