At that time, Custer, an instructor in the School of Allied Health Profession’s Radiation Science Technology Division, will sell tickets outside the Nebraska Cafeteria for the CoCo Key for the Cure event on Sunday at CoCo Key Water Resort at the Holiday Inn at 72nd and Grover streets. <\/p>\n

Five dollars of each $15 ticket will go to support CureSearch. The normal ticket price to CoCo Key is $28. <\/p>\n

CureSearch is a joint effort of the Children’s Oncology Group and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation aimed at curing childhood cancer. UNMC has been involved with the Children’s Oncology Group for many years.<\/p>\n

“I’ve seen firsthand the emotional roller coasters these kids and their families ride and I really wanted to do something to help them,” said Custer, who will sell the tickets as part of the WOWT-First National Bank “Pay It Forward” challenge.<\/p>\n

The television station selected Custer to participate in the challenge after learning of her interest to help children with cancer. As one of six winners of the Pay It Forward Challenge, Custer was given $1,000 with the task of multiplying it for use by a charity of her choice. <\/p>\n

As part of her efforts, she set up the CoCo Key for the Cure event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. <\/p>\n

Custer already has raised $5,000 and would like to have a lot more to give to CureSearch at the group’s MileStone Walk for Childhood Cancer on June 7 at Village Point Shopping Center at 168th and W. Dodge Road. <\/p>\n

Custer has until Wednesday to sell 200 tickets to CoCo Key. Those who wish to buy tickets but can’t swing by her table today can contact Custer at tmcuster@cox.net<\/a> or 402-214-6512 to purchase tickets. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
