\n<\/TABLE>Motivated in part by a conversation from one of the recent employee forums, UNMC has enacted a rideshare program for employees who wish to carpool to and from campus. <\/p>\n

The UNMC RideShare Program is designed to help employees conserve fuel and save money in the face of record-high fuel prices. <\/p>\n

“Given the price of gasoline and comments from many in the campus community, including Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., we felt the need to offer our employees a program that will facilitate carpooling to campus,” said John Russell, assistant vice chancellor for human resources. “This new program also falls in line with a push from the Omaha community as whole that city residents should engage in more carpooling.” <\/p>\n

To participate in the UNMC RideShare Program, employees should send an e-mail to RideShare@unmc.edu<\/a> listing their names, general areas where they live, contact numbers and the hours they usually work each day. <\/p>\n

Interested employees will receive a list of other employees who live in the same general area and have a desire to carpool. Employee addresses will not be distributed in this e-mail. <\/p>\n

At this point, it would be up to the interested employees to set up carpooling plans that work for them. <\/p>\n

“We really are not sure of the level of interest this program might generate but the cost to put it together in terms of time and resources is quite reasonable and the potential outcome is obviously positive,” Russell said. “We are quite excited to see how this turns out.” <\/p>\n<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
