\n<\/TABLE>Twenty-two students from eight different undergraduate and community college programs have joined the Institutional Development Award Program (IDeA) Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE)\/ Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (BRIN) program. <\/p>\n

Established in 2001, the BRIN program was created to expose students to serious biomedical research, build a statewide biomedical research infrastructure between undergraduate and graduate institutions and to strengthen each undergraduate institution’s infrastructure and increase its capacity to conduct cutting-edge biomedical and behavioral research. <\/p>\n

Today, we meet Andrew Lescelius, one of the new BRIN scholars on campus.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself? <\/B><\/p>\n

This fall, I will be going into my second year at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I enjoy learning a wide variety of topics, not just the sciences. For the coming school year, I will be taking math, computer and science courses as well as rock climbing, sign language and Flamenco dancing. I keep busy in school clubs and I enjoy playing tennis and sand volleyball. <\/p>\n

What do you hope to do? <\/B> <\/p>\n

Career-wise, there are so many options, I haven’t selected one yet. I plan on a career in biomedical science. <\/p>\n

What will the BRIN program do for you? <\/B> <\/p>\n

Well, instead of studying hard so I get an A, my work will help people, which is a much better reward. I have a lot to learn and I will make the most of this opportunity. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
