{"id":32760,"date":"2008-08-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-08-13T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2008\/08\/13\/friday-deadline-for-science-teachers-connection-day-presentations\/"},"modified":"2008-08-13T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-08-13T05:00:00","slug":"friday-deadline-for-science-teachers-connection-day-presentations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2008\/08\/13\/friday-deadline-for-science-teachers-connection-day-presentations\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday deadline for Science Teachers Connection Day presentations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Friday is the deadline to register to present during UNMC&#8217;s annual Science Teacher Connection Day, which will be held on campus on Oct. 9<\/p>\n<p>If you are passionate about science and like to share the meaning of your work, then this opportunity is for you. <\/p>\n<p>Faculty and staff who are willing to donate 50 minutes of their time are sought to share a learning activity with a small group of rural science teachers that will visit campus for the day&#8217;s event. <\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this workshop is to promote the health sciences to rural teachers and help them learn more about what goes on at the medical center. If you can organize an interactive and\/or hands-on activity for a group of three to six high school science teachers, please indicate it on the form linked below. Some examples of activities are: <UL><LI>Sharing simple science applications;<br \/>\n<LI>Demonstrating hands-on or interactive projects;<br \/>\n<LI>Explaining your research and touring your lab; and<br \/>\n<LI>Showing how equipment is used to diagnose or treat diseases. <\/UL><\/p>\n<p>The time allotted for each activity is 50 minutes. If you would like more than 50 minutes, arrangements can be made. To participate, fill out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/media\/rhen\/tc2008_deptconfirmation.pdf\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">Department Confirmation Form<\/a>, fax it to the RHEN office
