To be perfectly honest, I was right there with them. I had a feeling it was time for Nebraska to pull a big upset. <\/p>\n

Needless to say, by the end of the first quarter, Oklahoma was leading 35-0 and Runco, Kelsay and I all had to come to grips with the fact that our hearts had gotten the best of us. <\/p>\n

Our other panelists — and unflinching Huskers realists — Jeffrey Hill, M.D., and Robert Zatechka, M.D. — correctly called for NU losses. That means with three regular season games remaining, our panelists respective records are now:

  • Lisa Runco and Chad Kelsay, otherwise known as Team Runco\/Kelsay, 6-2.<\/UL><\/p>\n

    On Saturday, the Cornhuskers will look to rebound against Kansas, who beat NU like a rug last season in a 76-39 thumping in Lawrence. <\/p>\n

    This year, the Huskers seem to match up a little better but will they be able to bounce back from last week’s debacle at Oklahoma? Let’s see what our panelists think. <\/p>\n

    Runco and Kelsay say,<\/B> “Last week was an avalanche that once started couldn’t be stopped. OU’s too good, but unfortunately we got punched in the face and couldn’t get back up. Even with the pummeling we took in Norman, our excitement about this week is still high. We fully expect a solid rebound, and an inspired Big Red. We just can’t take KU football seriously, even after last year. By the way, we loved seeing (NU Coach Bo) Pelini grab that kid by the facemask; we need more of that ‘in your face’ attitude. That’s how it was back in the ‘good old days.’ ” NU 31, Kansas 20 <\/I><\/B><\/Font> <\/p>\n

    Dr. Hill says, <\/B> “This is the toughest game of the year to pick. KU is on a downturn but has a quick scoring offense. We can score points but can we stop KU from outscoring us? We do have home field advantage so I think we pull out a close one.” NU 35, Kansas 31<\/I><\/B><\/Font><\/p>\n

    Dr. Zatechka says, <\/B> “This will be a good test to see how NU responds to a pretty bitter thumping at the hands of Oklahoma. Kansas is well coached and still has a lot of talent despite graduation losses on defense. Their offense relies on junior quarterback Todd Reesing and a strong running game. NU should have a good chance at winning if they can shut down Reesing much as they did against Baylor’s Robert Griffin in the second half of that game. If the Huskers can get back to controlling the clock, this should be a solid win.” NU 27, Kansas 17<\/I><\/B><\/Font><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
