Louis Meyer Foundation, the Arts for Hearts show features pottery dishes and holiday crafts created by adults with developmental disabilities who participate in various Munroe-Meyer Institute recreational therapy programs. <\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the event help support programs such as the Thursday night social club, in which adults with developmental disabilities participate in sports, cooking, arts and crafts and other recreation and leisure activities.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the event has raised approximately $20,000 for adults with developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Arts for Hearts gives our participants the chance to partake in fundraising for programs that they benefit from,&#8221; said Kelley Coutts, assistant director of recreation therapy at MMI. &#8220;It&#8217;s also a chance for people on the UNMC campus to buy someone a present and help our programs out at the same time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s art show will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Durham Outpatient Center Central Atrium.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All kids can play.
