{"id":33603,"date":"2008-12-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-16T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2008\/12\/16\/dec-26-deemed-holiday-unmc-offices-will-be-closed-2\/"},"modified":"2008-12-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-16T06:00:00","slug":"dec-26-deemed-holiday-unmc-offices-will-be-closed-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2008\/12\/16\/dec-26-deemed-holiday-unmc-offices-will-be-closed-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Dec. 26 deemed holiday &#8211; UNMC offices will be closed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>On Friday, President Bush signed an Executive Order excusing federal employees from duty for Friday, Dec. 26. <\/p>\n<p>According to Nebraska State Statute 84-1001 (3), &#8220;For purposes of this Section, paid holidays shall include all of the days enumerated in section 25-2221 and all days declared by laws or proclamation of the president or governor to be holidays.&#8221; Accordingly, UNMC offices will be closed Dec. 26 as a result of Bush&#8217;s directive.<\/p>\n<p>University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken has directed that university employees who are eligible for holiday leave will be granted Dec. 26 as a day of &#8220;administrative leave,&#8221; based on the employee&#8217;s full-time equivalency.<\/p>\n<p>Holiday eligible employees who are required to work on Dec. 26 will be paid for the time worked and also granted an additional day off, which may be carried over for use in 2009. Questions may be referred to the UNMC payroll office at (402) 559-7460.<\/p>\n<p>The campus will be open and operational on Friday, Jan. 2. With appropriate consideration for departmental business requirements and anticipated workload, supervisory personnel are asked to be as flexible as circumstances permit in allowing employees to use vacation leave or a floating holiday on Jan. 2.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, President Bush signed an Executive Order excusing federal employees from duty for Friday, Dec. 26.
