The overriding mission of the board is to protect the public from unethical practices.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"15\" cellpadding=\"10\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\"><br \/>\n<B><br \/>\n&#8220;One of my major goals is to collaborate with the other mental health professions and state regulatory agencies to improve access to behavioral health services for children and adults in Nebraska.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/B><br \/>\n<BR><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\">\n<font face=\"arial\" size=\"1\"><br \/>\nDavid Carver, Ph.D.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>Recently, Dr. Carver also was named the academic affairs coordinator and a board member for the Nebraska Psychological Association (NPA), the primary professional organization for psychologists in Nebraska. <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carver represents both the board of psychology and NPA on the statewide Justice Behavioral Health Committee, which focuses on the interface between behavioral health providers and the criminal justice system, with emphasis on the substance-abusing criminal offender. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really enjoy representing UNMC in these state professional service roles,&#8221; Dr. Carver said. &#8220;One of my major goals is to collaborate with the other mental health professions and state regulatory agencies to improve access to behavioral health services for children and adults in Nebraska.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carver joined UNMC in 1987. Prior to that, he served as director of student counseling at the University of Minnesota campus in Morris, Minn. Dr. Carver grew up throughout the Midwest in places including Indianola, Iowa, and Wheaton, Ill. He received his bachelor&#8217;s and master&#8217;s degree from from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., another master&#8217;s degree from Emporia State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado. <\/p>\n<p>A licensed psychologist, Dr. Carver also serves as UNMC&#8217;s student ombudsperson and Student Senate
