\n<\/TABLE>UNMC Professor, Ann Berger, Ph.D., will present the 2009 Oncology Nursing Society State-of-the-Science Lecture, on Feb. 13, during the 10th National Conference on Cancer Nursing Research in Orlando. <\/p>\n

Dr. Berger, the Dorothy Hodges Olson Endowed Chair in Nursing, and an advanced practice nurse, will talk about reducing negative health outcomes of sleep and wake disturbances in people with cancer.<\/p>\n

“My work is dedicated to assisting patients with cancer and their families by improving symptoms during treatment and survivorship,” Dr. Berger said. “This lecture provides me with a unique opportunity to inform others about the need for regular screening, follow-up assessment, and effective treatment of sleep-wake disturbances in patients and caregivers.”<\/p>\n

With more than 25 years in oncology nursing, Dr. Berger has a substantial and sustained record of obtaining research funding. She has published extensively and presents at local, regional, and national conferences. She has served in numerous leadership roles in the Oncology Nursing Society. She is chairperson of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Cancer-Related Fatigue Guidelines Panel and a member of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, the American Academy of Nursing, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.<\/p>\n
