The 40th Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum (MSBRF) was held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Embassy Suites Downtown\/Old Market in Omaha. <\/p>\n

MSBRF provides an exciting opportunity for young researchers from the health sciences, graduate, intern and resident programs throughout the Midwestern region of the United States and Canada to present their work in the biomedical sciences. It also provides an opportunity for them to have their work reviewed and evaluated by faculty outside their own institution. <\/p>\n

The 40th MSBRF included David Ferrick, Ph.D., chief scientific officer and vice president of biology and applications at Seahorse Bioscience in Billerica, Mass., and his keynote address titled “If Leonardo da Vinci Was a Graduate Student Today Would He Become a Professor or a Chief Scientific Officer?”<\/p>\n

This year’s forum included 68 oral presentations and 63 poster presentations by 131 medical and graduate students representing Creighton University, Kasturba Medical College, Northwestern University, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, The University of Iowa, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Omaha and UNMC.<\/p>\n

More than 100 faculty members from Creighton University and UNMC served as abstract, poster and oral presentation reviewers and several other departments and units from the UNMC campus provided financial support for the forum. <\/p>\n
