A Web site for Real Estate With Honors — a private off-campus listing service to help UNMC students, fellows, faculty, staff, researchers and alumni find housing in the Omaha metropolitan area — has launched.<\/p>\n

The Web site can be accessed at www.unmcrealestatewithhonors.com<\/a> and was launched in time to help new students and faculty who will look for housing this summer.<\/p>\n

“UNMC is excited to use this new system to help make the search for off-campus housing easy, fun and informative,” said Deb Thomas, assistant vice chancellor of business and finance. “Real Estate With Honors will help students and staff learn about living off campus, save time in their property search and make the overall process of finding housing less stressful.”<\/p>\n

\nReal Estate With Honors is a service of Crew Innovations, Inc., that helps colleges and universities make the search for off-campus housing enjoyable, educational and rewarding. <\/p>\n

It is one of the only — if not the only — housing listing service dedicated strictly to the needs of a single academic institution. <\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>Off-campus housing needs of the UNMC community are diverse, and to better meet these needs, Real Estate With Honors includes a wide variety of property types, locations, price ranges and sizes. Housing options from across the entire Omaha metro, including apartment complexes, houses for sale and rent, condos, university residences and even short-term furnished housing are on the Web site.<\/p>\n

The service helps students and others avoid making several trips to Omaha to look for housing, said Keith Swarts, UNMC director of business services. It also lets users inquire about listings and schedule showings through Web-based forms. <\/p>\n

The online property displays include photos, detailed descriptions of the properties and their amenities and contact information. Users can even e-mail listings to parents or spouses for their input. <\/p>\n

Additional state-of-the-art Web technology provides bird’s-eye views and 3-D mapping tools to give the user detailed impressions of each property.<\/p>\n

The system allows prospective renters and buyers to gather a wide variety of information, such as property condition, accessibility, distance to campus, parking, one-way streets and even potential traffic noise.<\/p>\n

The Web site also includes information for first-time buyers and renters, such as off-campus safety and crime prevention articles and a real estate education blog.<\/p>\n

Real Estate With Honors is a private listing service. Real estate professionals, property managers, and individual owners who promote their listings and contact information on the site must first meet certain qualifications. <\/p>\n
