Learn all about &#8220;The Magic City,&#8221; as participants journey through South Omaha.  <\/p>\n<p>South Omaha was founded in 1884 along with the creation of the Union Stockyards. By 1890, South Omaha was the fastest growing city in the country, earning the nickname, &#8220;The Magic City.&#8221; Waves of immigrants flocked to the community to carve out a new life while working in the packinghouses, breweries, smelting plants, and other businesses that grew from the area. This patchwork of cultures has given South Omaha a truly unique history.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"260\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<TABLE border=\"1\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\" bgcolor=\"99ccff\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\"><br \/>\n<B><br \/>\nIf you go<br \/>\n<\/B><br \/>\n<BR><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\" size=\"2\"><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>The tour will begin at noon on Tuesday, June 30.<br \/>\n<LI>Tour lastsapproximately one hour.<br \/>\n<LI>Board the trolley outside the Durham Research Center on Durham Research Plaza (formerly 45th street).<br \/>\n<LI>Seating is limited to 20 people.<br \/>\n<LI>Reservations must be made in advance.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>The tour will begin at noon on Tuesday, June 30 and will last approximately one hour. The trolley will be located for pickup outside the Durham Research Center on Durham Research Plaza (formerly 45th street). Seating is limited to 20 people and reservations must be made in advance. <\/p>\n<p>All students and staff of The Nebraska Medical Center, University of Nebraska Medical Center and University of Nebraska Medical Center Physicians may attend. Please contact Jill Carson at <a href=\"mailto:jlcarson@unmc.edu\">jlcarson@unmc.edu<\/a> to reserve your space.
