Effective immediately, limits have been placed on the number of Thank ‘U’ medallions employees can send and redeem.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a new “Appreciation E-Card” function on Firefly<\/a> provides another way employees can show their appreciation for each other. <\/p>\n

Thank ‘U’ medallion limits<\/B><\/p>\n

Thank ‘U’ Rewards are a way employees recognize their colleagues for excellent service. Anyone may request that a Thank ‘U’ message be sent to a deserving colleague. The recipient will receive a Thank ‘U’ card and a medallion redeemable for gifts or services. <\/p>\n

“The program has been so popular that these limits have had to be established in order to remain within the budget available,” said John Russell, assistant vice chancellor for human resources. <\/p>\n

As of June 17, employees can send 12 medallions a year. Also, employees can redeem 10 medallions for the calendar year. Previously, employees could redeem 20 medallions per year. <\/p>\n

“These limits will not effect most employees,” Russell said. <\/p>\n

Between June 17 and Jan. 1, employees can send 12 medallions. However, employees who already have redeemed 10 or more medallions in 2009 must wait until the start of 2010 to redeem additional Thank ‘U’ awards. <\/p>\n

Employees who wish to show their appreciation to other UNMC staffers are encouraged to use the new “Appreciation E-Card” function on Firefly<\/a>. <\/p>\n
