{"id":35021,"date":"2009-08-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-21T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2009\/08\/21\/olson-center-sponsors-aug-26-breast-feeding-conference\/"},"modified":"2009-08-21T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-08-21T05:00:00","slug":"olson-center-sponsors-aug-26-breast-feeding-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2009\/08\/21\/olson-center-sponsors-aug-26-breast-feeding-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Olson Center sponsors Aug. 26 breast feeding conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Olson Center for Women&#8217;s Health will sponsor a conference titled &#8220;Breastfeeding: Baby&#8217;s Natural Choice Conference&#8221; on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Qwest Center Omaha. <\/p>\n<p>The conference, which runs from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will feature the following keynote speakers:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Miriam Labbok, M.D., professor of the practice of public health at the University of North Carolina and director of the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute (CBI); and<br \/>\n<LI>Kathleen Kendall-Tackett, Ph.D., health psychologist and an international board certified lactation consultant.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>The conference aims to provide information on the importance of a supportive breastfeeding environment for the promotion of breastfeeding in new mothers, as well as address specific issues that may hinder successful breastfeeding. The target audience includes:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Physicians;<br \/>\n<LI>Nurses;<br \/>\n<LI>Lactation consultants;<br \/>\n<LI>Registered dietitians;<br \/>\n<LI>Residents;<br \/>\n<LI>Physician assistants;<br \/>\n<LI>Nurse practitioners;<br \/>\n<LI>Nurse midwives;<br \/>\n<LI>Breastfeeding advocates;<br \/>\n<LI>Social workers; and<br \/>\n<LI>Students.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>The cost to attend is $95 and $50 for students and includes continuing education credits, breakfast, lunch, handouts and exhibits.
